Chamber Debuts Annual Oxford print – 9th in Artists’ Series

Oxford, MS – Are you looking for a uniqueOxford print?  Something that captures the essence of our unique town in a seemingly simplistic but ultimately surreal and dynamic fashion? Well, the Chamber may have just what you are looking for.

The Oxford– Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce is featuring the ninth in a series of prints that showcase talents of artists in the area.  This year’s gifted artist is Charlie Buckley, with his exquisite print Lafayette Co9unty Courthouse, depicting an extraordinary view of the courthouse and downtown Square at night.  The artwork will grace the cover of the 2012-2013 Oxford-Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Foundation Community Guide and Membership Directory, an annual publication due out this fall.

Charlie Buckley graduated summa cum laude from Ole Miss in 2004 with a BFA in painting, and was awarded a Taylor Medal by the University. After operating as an independent artist for 3 years in Oxford, he was offered a Graduate Assistantship in the MFA program at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, graduating in 2009. After moving back to Mississippi, Charlie taught in the Art Department at Mississippi State, and eventually returned to painting full-time in 2010. He is the represented by Southside Gallery in Oxford, Nunnery’s at Gallery 119 in Jackson, and The Arts Company in Nashville. In 2010 he was awarded a Visual Arts Fellowship by the Mississippi Arts Commission, and is currently creating work based on the history of Mississippi.
