Oxford Newcomers & Friends

Oxford Newcomers and Friends has been welcoming both newly relocated retirees and those not yet retired (NYR) new residents since 1999. Our mission is to provide awareness of what our community has to offer and the opportunity to build new friendships. And our friends enjoy it so much, some have been members since the beginning! We invite you to join in the fun!

The club year follows the calendar; new members are welcome anytime. We feature various activity groups that typically meet once or twice a month, including bridge, cocktails and dining out, book clubs, educational programs, movies, coffees and wine tasting! New ideas are always welcome. Additionally, all-member social gatherings are held throughout the year, from a Mardi Gras fête to summer and fall socials and dance parties to potlucks and our holiday dinner – you won’t feel like a newcomer for long.

Members receive a monthly newsletter plus weekly notices of events to keep everyone up to date on club happenings. While many of our members are retirees, we welcome NYR Oxford and Lafayette County newcomers – and those considering moving here, too. We hope to see you at an event soon!

• BRIDGE GROUP: 2nd & 4th Tuesdays, 1:00 pm
• EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS: Monthly, times vary
• FIVE O’CLOCK ON THE SQUARE: Monthly for happy hour, 5:00 pm
• LADIES HAPPY HOUR: Monthly, 4:30-6:30 pm
• LADIES WHO LUNCH: 3rd Tuesday, 11:30 am
• LUNCH BUNCH: 4th Tuesday of the month
• MEN’S BREAKFAST: Mondays and Thursdays at 7:00 am
• OXWINE: Monthly on a Sunday afternoon; location varies
• WOMEN’S COFFEE: 1st and 3rd Fridays, 9:00 am
